How do I publish an email to the web?
Publish an email to the web from Emails: turn on Publish to your Smart Page when you send it, or later from its report, then share its public link.
How publishing to the web works
Any email you send can also live on your primary Smart Page as a post with its own public link, so people who aren't on your list can read it, share it and subscribe from it. Publishing is available on every plan.
- You need a primary Smart Page. Every post goes to your primary Smart Page. If you don't have one yet, create a Smart Page first. If you have several, choose which one is primary.
- Posts appear on your page's feed. A published email is listed on the Smart Page's Feed page, under the Newsletters heading. If the Feed page is off, publishing turns it on.
- You choose who can read it. Readers who aren't subscribed can either read the whole post or subscribe to keep reading. Your subscribers can always read all of it.
If you have a primary Smart Page, the switch starts on for any email you haven't scheduled yet, set to Subscribe to keep reading. Turn it off for any email you'd rather keep in inboxes only.
Publish an email while you send it
- Write your email, then click Schedule / send in the top bar (see how to create and send an email).
- In step 1, When, pick Schedule for later (with a Date and time) or Send now, then click Next: Web →.
- In step 2, Web (Put it on your Smart Page too?), make sure Publish to your Smart Page is switched on. It reads “Goes live on” followed by your page's name.
- Under Readers who aren’t subscribed, choose Read it all or Subscribe to keep reading.
- Click Copy link if you want the post's link now (it works once the email goes out), then click Schedule or Send.
To keep an email off the web, switch Publish to your Smart Page off. The card then reads “Off. This email only goes to inboxes.”
If your page's Feed page is off, the Web step shows a note that the Newsletters tab on your page is off. That is the same Feed page: publishing turns it on when the email goes out, and any earlier emails already tagged for that page appear there too.

Publish or unpublish an email you've already sent
- From the email's report: open the sent email's report. Its web card reads On your Smart Page (with a Live label) or Not on your Smart Page. Use its switch to publish or unpublish.
- From the email itself: open a sent email and click Publish to web at the top right. Once it's live, the same spot shows On the web and Copy link.
To change who can read a published post, click Change on the report card, pick Read it all or Subscribe to keep reading, and click Save.
If you don't have a Custom URL yet, publishing picks one for you based on your email address. You can change it anytime under Settings → Profile → Custom URL.
Copy the link and share a post
- On the report card, click Copy link, or click Share this post.
- In Share this post, edit the Post text if you like.
- Click Post on X, LinkedIn or Facebook. Each opens that network's post box in a new tab, with your text and link filled in.
The report card also counts the new subscribers who joined from the post and the subscribers who read it. Your Dashboard shows how many people subscribed from your web posts.
What readers see
- Read it all: anyone with the link can read the whole post.
- Subscribe to keep reading: everyone sees the opening of the post. To read the rest, a new reader enters their email under Keep reading and joins your list. They can finish the post right away. If you use double opt-in, they still confirm before you can email them. Readers who are already subscribed enter the same address and go straight through. Emails built with Code your own show a short text excerpt instead of the opening, and any comments appear once the post is unlocked.
Very short emails are always shown in full.
Troubleshooting
I don't see the Web step, or the switch is greyed out
- Publishing needs a primary Smart Page. Without one, the report card says You need a Smart Page first and links to Create a Smart Page, and the send window has only one step.
- Only emails you send to your lists can be published. Automation emails and list confirmation emails aren't.
My email isn't on my Smart Page
- Check that Publish to your Smart Page is on in the email's report.
- A scheduled email goes live when it's sent, not before.
- Posts always go to your primary Smart Page. If you have more than one page, check which one is primary.
Readers are asked to subscribe before they can finish a post
- That post is set to Subscribe to keep reading. To open it to everyone, click Change on the email's report card, choose Read it all and click Save.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is publishing already switched on for my new email?
If you have a primary Smart Page, Publish to your Smart Page starts on for any email you haven't scheduled yet, set to Subscribe to keep reading. Nothing goes on the web until the email sends. To keep it in inboxes only, switch it off in the send window's Web step.
Which plans can publish emails to the web?
All of them, including Free. You only need a primary Smart Page.
Does unpublishing an email turn off my Feed page?
No. Unpublishing takes that one email off your page; your Feed page and any other posts on it stay as they are.
Do my subscribers have to enter their email to read a post?
No. Your subscribers can always read the whole post. Only new readers are asked to subscribe, and only on posts set to Subscribe to keep reading.
Can I publish to a Smart Page that isn't my primary one?
The switch always publishes to your primary Smart Page. To feature an email on another page's feed, give it one of the campaign tags that page's Feed page uses.
