How to Upgrade/Downgrade a License

How to upgrade or downgrade your SendFox plan — moving from a lifetime deal to a monthly Pro plan, switching between Pro tiers, and how proration is charged when you change.

How upgrading works in SendFox

SendFox has three plan types: the Free plan, a one-time $29 Lifetime deal, and the monthly Pro plan (Pro 1 through Pro 5, plus Enterprise). Upgrading means moving up that ladder — to a Lifetime deal, or to Pro for higher limits and the full Pro feature set.

The monthly plan is Pro. (Pro is the new name for what used to be the "Empire Add-On", which is being restructured into the Pro tiers — existing Empire subscribers keep their plan and pricing for now, and an account that reaches the point where it needs a Pro plan is asked to choose one by a stated date.)

Already have a lifetime deal? Upgrade to Pro

The older AppSumo lifetime tiers (Tier 1, Tier 5, and so on) are no longer sold, so you can't buy or upgrade to a higher lifetime tier. To add capacity or unlock the Pro features, subscribe to a monthly Pro plan instead.

Your lifetime deal stays exactly as you purchased it. Subscribing to Pro is additive — it adds the Pro features (whitelabel, paid newsletters, the full HTML editor, optional single opt-in, VIP sending) on top of your account, and your existing contacts are unaffected. Your contact limit is also a floor, not a ceiling: if your lifetime deals already total more contacts than your Pro tier, you keep the higher number.

Sending works differently. Older lifetime deals were sold with uncapped sending, and that is no longer the case: once an account has sent more than its one-time purchase covers, a Pro plan is required to keep sending. If your account has reached that point, SendFox recommends a specific Pro tier based on your contacts and recent sending, and you cannot choose a tier below it — checkout and plan changes are blocked with a message naming the minimum. The recommendation follows your volume, so it can move down again as you send less. See Why is my SendFox account paused or restricted?.

To subscribe, open Settings → Plan & billing and choose a Pro tier.

Switch between Pro tiers

Once you're on Pro, you can move up or down a tier at any time:

  1. Open Settings → Plan & billing.
  2. Click Switch to the tier you want.
  3. Review the proration summary, then click Confirm switch.

How proration is charged:

  • Upgrading to a higher tier takes effect immediately, with a prorated charge for the rest of your current billing period.
  • Downgrading to a lower tier applies your new, lower rate from your next invoice — no proration, and you keep your current tier's limits until then.

Before you confirm, the switch dialog shows exactly what you'll be charged today and your next renewal date.

Downgrade or cancel

To move to a lower Pro tier, use Switch to above (it applies from your next invoice). To stop your monthly plan entirely, you can cancel at any time — see how to cancel or refund. Cancelling keeps your account and contacts; you return to your Free or Lifetime plan at the end of the billing period you've paid for.

Troubleshooting

I can't find a higher lifetime tier to buy

  • That's expected — the older AppSumo lifetime tiers are no longer sold. Upgrade to a monthly Pro plan for higher limits instead.

It won't let me downgrade

  • A downgrade is blocked if your current contact count is higher than the lower tier allows. Reduce your contacts first, or pick a tier that covers them.

Frequently asked questions

If I subscribe to Pro, do I lose my lifetime deal?

No. Your lifetime deal stays on your account. Pro is additive — it adds the Pro features and higher limits on top of what you already have.

Can I still upgrade my AppSumo lifetime tier?

No. The older lifetime tiers aren't sold anymore. To grow, subscribe to a monthly Pro plan (Pro 1 through Pro 5), or contact sales for Enterprise.

Will I be charged right away when I upgrade a Pro tier?

Yes — upgrading is immediate, with a prorated charge for the rest of your billing period. Downgrading instead applies your lower rate from the next invoice.
