Can I add custom fields to my form?
Yes. SendFox now supports custom contact fields, so you can collect more than just email, first name, and last name — and add those fields to your forms and Smart Pages.
Overview
A contact field stores an extra piece of information on each contact, such as a phone number, company, city, or sign-up date. You create the field once, then reuse it across your forms, Smart Pages, imports, and individual contacts. Custom contact fields are available on every plan — Free, Lifetime, and Pro.
SendFox supports these field types:
- Text — names, companies, free-form notes
- Number — numeric values
- Date — a calendar date
- Phone number — validated phone input
- Country — a country value
- City — a city value
How to create a contact field
- From the top nav, open Audience → Contacts.
- Open the menu on the Contacts page and choose Contact Fields (or go directly to your Contact Fields page).
- Click Create Contact Field.
- Enter a Label (what you’ll see in the app) and pick a field type. SendFox automatically generates the field’s internal name from the label.
- Save. Your new field now appears on your Contact Fields page and is ready to use.

Collect custom fields on a form or Smart Page
Once a contact field exists, you can add it to the sign-up experiences that feed your audience:
- Forms — in the form builder, add your custom field to the form. Use the Manage contacts fields link in the builder to create or edit fields without leaving the page.
- Smart Pages — the Smart Page builder offers the same custom-field options, so visitors who subscribe through a Smart Page can fill them in.
Note about the Sticky bar display mode: a form set to the Sticky bar display mode keeps to a single row, so it collects only the email address — any other fields you turned on are skipped there. Those fields still appear on the hosted form page and in the other display modes, so switch display modes if you need to collect them.
When a visitor submits the form or Smart Page, the values are saved to that contact automatically.
Set or view fields on a contact
Custom field values show on the individual contact’s page, where you can edit them by hand. You can also populate custom fields in bulk when you import contacts from a CSV, or programmatically through the SendFox API.
Troubleshooting
My new field doesn’t appear on my form
- Create the contact field first, then add it in the form (or Smart Page) builder — fields aren’t added to forms automatically.
- If your form uses the Sticky bar display mode, only the email address is collected — switch to another display mode (or use the hosted form page) to capture your other fields.
- Re-publish the form and update the embedded code on your site so the new field is included.
Values aren’t saving
- Confirm the field is actually included on the form/Smart Page the contact used — only fields present at submit time are captured.
- For imports, make sure the CSV column maps to the matching contact field.
